“There’s room for everyone on the Nice List!” – Buddy
Our story started long ago, well, not that long, circa 2018.
I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter and was given the news that Milan would have Down Syndrome in January 2018 while I was the Vice President of Marketing for Colohouse. If there is something Milan and her supercharged 21st set of chromosomes taught me, always see the opportunities to help others learn and thrive!
Circling back to 2023, the marketing team was tasked with spreading holiday cheer to our clients and partners. As I had already gathered “who was on the nice list”, I just so happened to get a flyer in Milan’s backpack with an order form from Crafters Miami for holiday gift baskets. I seized the opportunity to not only send an amazing basket of handmade candles to our “nice list” but also support an amazing program at Milan’s school, Our Pride Academy (OPA).
Who is Crafters?
Crafters is part of Our Pride Academy’s OPA Works Program. OPA Works is a program that was created by Our Pride Academy, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3), to train and employ the increasing number of young adults with developmental disabilities. Our philosophy is the belief that every person is capable of working competitively in the community if the right kind of job and work environment can be found. We strive to provide jobs for these talented individuals within a progressive, forward-thinking, and dynamic culture. Purchasing a product from OPA Works has contributed to the employment of individuals with special needs.
